At Suppree Tuition, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is our highest priority. We are committed to creating a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where all students feel protected, valued and listened to. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and all staff and tutors work together to ensure students are kept safe and supported during their time with Suppree Tuition.
Our Approach
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people. Our safeguarding practices are informed by statutory guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (2026) and Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023).
Our approach is child-centred and focuses on recognising concerns early, acting promptly, sharing information appropriately, and ensuring that children receive the right support at the right time. Where necessary, we work with parents, local safeguarding partners, children's social care, health services, and the police to help keep children safe.
Safer Recruitment and Training
All tutors hold a valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, with Enhanced DBS checks obtained where required by their role. As part of our safer recruitment procedures, tutors also undergo an online presence and social media screening before joining Suppree Tuition.
In addition, all staff complete accredited safeguarding training before working with students. They receive annual updates on Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and participate in regular safeguarding refresher training and knowledge checks to ensure they remain up to date with current legislation, guidance, and best practice.
Recognising the diverse communities we serve, all staff also receive training on recognising and responding to antisemitism, alongside wider equality, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism training, helping to ensure every student feels safe, respected, and supported.
Reporting Concerns
Any safeguarding concern, no matter how small, is taken seriously. Tutors are trained to recognise the signs of abuse, neglect and exploitation and know how to respond appropriately. Concerns are recorded securely and shared with the safeguarding team, and referrals to external agencies are made when a child is at risk of harm or in immediate danger.
Parents and carers are normally informed of safeguarding concerns unless doing so would place a child at increased risk.

DDSLs support the DSL and provide cover when required. Safeguarding cover is always in place during our opening hours.
